Has anyone else experienced the same thing? | I've been using the 3.5 RC for a month or so, and I have to say that the final is much better, and seems a lot faster. It seems more stable overall. I was getting pretty disappointed in FF with all the security problems and sluggishness after the 2's came to an end. But 3.5 is starting to renew my faith. May this be the start of a trend!
One thing I like to do is load a lot of pages in the background with a middle-click on links, like news pages, and then read them afterward. IE tends to lock up until each page is loaded, a real pain. Before 3.5, the only browser that did that well was SeaMonkey, but 3.5 does it just as smoothly.
But it still has over 60 bugs and security holes. Maybe they should have fixed it first.

But now FF 3.5 seems faster than all of them. Hopefully they'll patch those security holes soon. | | Senior Member with 1,580 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: An Alien,a misfit on Earth Experience: Intermediate++ | | Dear stanley,
what you said is true! I can see a distinct increase in the speed with which FF3.5 opens and also the increased speed in opening websites. I guess as a browser gets more and more popular, it's a target for the darts! | | Senior Member with 227 posts. | | Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Canada Experience: Slowly but surely | | Hey all, can we still put this forum as an add on in the firefox 3.5? not a major issue but i read somewhere that the tsg add on was not availiable in 3.5 | | Moderator with 36,822 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Vermont |

#10 | There are definitely problems. FF 3.5 seems to have some problems rendering javascript. It opens a new page thinking that the javascript link is a URL, at least sometimes, but not always. It's fast, and makes mistakes faster, too.
The deadline seems more important to them than quality. Good thing it's free so they are not responsible for all the mistakes. Can you imagine the media response to MS releasing such a faulty piece of software? They's be taken to the woodshed. I certainly won't be using FF for banking or any other purpose that requires security until they fix that pile of problems.

#11 | Does anyone remember the thread started by ??Gizzy (sorry if it's not you) on whether too many add-ons in FF can slow down the browser? Food for thought, perhaps! Would like the opinions come in,really! | | Moderator with 36,822 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Vermont |

#12 | Of course too many slow it down. And the add-ons vary widely in quality since they are written by different people with different levels of ability. | | Senior Member with 1,580 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: An Alien,a misfit on Earth Experience: Intermediate++ |

#13 | Dear Elvandil,
Thank u ! Have one or two doubts to be cleared by you (for my sake) specifically about NoScript. Will hold back for a while! | | Moderator with 36,822 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Vermont |

#14 | Having everything update when FF starts will also slow its loading quite a bit. If you can remember to update manually from time to time, you can turn the automatic off in settings.
But every add-on can also be disabled in the settings, too, so if there is one you don't want to use, you can keep it installed and just turn it off.
NoScript will greatly impede the whole internet experience if you use it too aggressively. Scripting adds many features to browsing, and controls at many sites, including this one, require scripting. Yes, it poses some security risks, but you need to weigh that against the lack of usability and functionality. Security against what? Do you really have anything that needs to be that aggressively protected?
