Solved: Firewall turns off...?
Why would my Windows XP Firewall be turning itself off? Everytime I restart my computer, the Firewall needs to be manually turned on, although normally "on" is the default. Anyone any idea what could be causing this? It's really annoying me!

Click on Start, Run, and type services.msc.
Locate the Windows Firewall service, double click on it and make sure it's Started and on Automatic.
If you are running another firewall at the same time, try turning it off. It's never recommended to use two at the same time.

If your using another firewall then keep the windows firewall off. Any firewall that comes with a security program will do better then the windows firewall.

It appears I've also got the Firewall for Zone Alarm on - is it better to keep that on than the Windows one?

ZA alarm will most definitely turn off your Windows Firewall like that. Although I wouldn't use the Windows Firewall, I would recommend something better than ZA, like Comodo.
