Question MacAfee anti-virus update problem.
I am are using McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0 (2008?) on nine computers. The computers were in storage one year and have not had updates in 17 months!! The anti-virus software scans but will not update.

Most of the fields on the software are greyed-out as well. The fields do not "click" or the check boxes do not function -- except our "logs" tab and a manual update button. After clicking the update button - it tries to update and sends back a message "Unable to find valid repository". We can read the logs and we own the licenses for all nine computers.

Does anyone know how to get the McAfee software to update again? There is no official indication that it is expired -- and it does manualyl scan, just without an update in 17 months. Thanks for your help.

Uninstall the program using the McAfee Removal Tool. Then, reinstall it.

Dear forumjunkie,
You've had McAfee Enterprise for 5 months over an year! May be the license has expired. You can check it out easily enough! The home editions expire after one year for all paid Security Suites! It's your ability to manually update that leaves me scratching my head.
PS:See,i am an alien that dosen't know the ways of your world!

MacAfee Space Alien - Free AVG vs MacAfee 8.0
Laugh out loud dude -- too funny -- check it out though - not only will it attempt to run an update and fail - it will actually scan the computer!!

I have installed FREE AVG until we can solve the mystery. Computer owner desires to use the MacAfee. I prefer Free AVG. Anybody have any thoughts on the orginal thread or on Free AVG vs. MacAfee 8.0?

Thanks ya'all.

Dear forumjunkie,
The collective comments on AVG in this forum are not very encouraging, to say the least! Did you try Avira and/or Avast? Most of us feel that McAfee's going down the tube faster than the cost of a breakfast with Warren.E.Buffett (my apologies to the great man). You seem to be the one person that understands that i am a real alien! I am not from space, but from the center of tthis planet! Ask the coal-miners in U.K!http://english.pravda.ru/science/19/...69_aliens.html
