Programs cannot access the internet
I don't know if this is the right place to post this.. but I need help..

Well, I have had this program for a while. I don't know what caused it. I eventualy disabled by mcaffe, and usses ccleaner to delete stuff, and clean my registry. After I did that, some programs started working again. But not the program has come back. I did the same thing I did, and the problem is still there. I uninstalled my mcaffe, seeing if that would help, but now i can't reinstall it. The problem is, I will download/install a program. Start it, it will try and update and cannot connect to w/e the update server is, so I can't use it/play it. So now i have no anti-virus, and i have no idea what to do. I tried installing some microsoft updates, and it would not install. Can somone please help me? I have windows XP with sp3 and I have a cable modem, no router, with comcast internet.

Also, I have had Ventrilo on my computer since install and it works perfectly fine.

You need to run the McAffe Removal Tool which you can get from the McAffe website. Antivirus programs never fully unistall on there own. You should replace McAffe with something like AVG or Microsoft Secuirty Essentails (when it becomes avilable) which you will have less issues with and your system will run better as well.

Dear kokainkaola,
what is the "name of the program or are you saying problem?" Kindly clarify.

Very good example of why I NEVER use any registry cleaner.
They always seem to remove items that don't need removing.
Worse case scenario is a machine that won't even boot.I like mine better when it boots up.Don't you?

Dear Sniper,
I sure feel older and have some Grey hair to show for it.
Experience is not only doing the wrong things and getting punished but also giving the wrong advise and watch the dude get into worse trouble than he/she was in before! Did your advise ever boomerang? That's what i call learning.

You have yet to tell me what you read! You know that i read peoples minds. It's astonishing what ideas keep flowing thru' people as they try to grapple with problems. Saddening!!

@lawson_jl,

Your link doesn't seem to work. Here's another link to use:

McAfee Removal Tool

If the tool doesn't solve the issue, it might be helpful to see a HijackThis log.

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything
