If you hold down the alt key you should be able to take a screen shot of only the active tab or your options and not the full windows.
Yes lots that I post is what I have learn over the years.
I only learn the better way to deal with the cookies a couple years ago and glad I did.
I have use netscape going back to 3.x and keep backing up and importing it all the was to Firefox 1.x and it got to were it took forever to open the cookie manager because that Exceptions list was so very big because all other sites that were blocked was getting added to the list so that list over about 10 was a very big list.
By the way I have the cookie protection from SpywareBlaster turn off for Firefox because it is not needed with the way I deal with cookies.
If you uncheck that "accepts cookies from sites" box then no cookies will get site from any sites that are not listed in the Exceptions list because that Exceptions list is what will rule.
I have about 100 sites listed in the Exceptions list for allow, allow for session and block and it stays there.
Then if I need to get to a site I use cookie safe temp cookie.
Plus I bet I can clean up some 10 to 20 sites from my Exceptions list.

Not like before where I think I 1000's and 1000's or more sites listed and most were ads and tracking.

A hosts file will kill most cookies also because they are listed in the hosts file.
Also using Firefox with NoScript can help kill cookies too. Not always but most sites if the java script does not run then it will not set a cookie.

I also use CustomizeGoogle.
http://www.customizegoogle.com/

I have it so google cookies are session cookies and after checking gmail or doing a search I clearn the cookies.
I never use the build in search but go to the web site.

I hate tracking and I was checking up the new Bing search.
Well not matter what I do it knows where I live. Yes that is right and that is with No cookies. You can change it in the setting at Bing but it will get reset back unless you use cookies to remember.
But that really gets me because I never added that info to Bing so it got it from when I put the info in when I registered Windows because that is the only place that had my address. I live in a town that is part of Sacramento so Sacramento was never listed but anyone knows it is part of Sacramento so MS who is like Google and wants to track you will do just that. Worse are the .dat files that keeo tracking of all types of things and not just web sites.
I use Index.dat Suite to clean them up and have a batch file that cleans then at each boot.
http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=P...index.datsuite

I would not use that Opt-Out add-on either because you still have to trust them because you got a cookie from them that lets you say I don't want a cookie from who ever. I would not trust them at all.
Just like I do not use any of the search toolbars because they track your searches. Why do you think the search toolbars are added to so many things?
This http://www.google.com/ search I know is in a cookie that I can delete. I can use other google seach sites and will not get a cookie but the USA google search is better then http://www.google.ca but I get no cookie from them.

Are cookies dangerous?

Bottom line, don't be too paranoid. As I already stated, you can delete all cookies whenever you're finished browsing around. Personaly, I accept all cookies and it prevents loading problems and it assures proper functioning on all websites.

Stop visiting questionable websites... !

Thanks Phantom010 & perfume.

As you had said perfume;
"If you visit the same website from which the cookie originated, you'll get it back over and over. Some anti-malware programs detect tracking cookies and alert you. Others couldn't care less. No need to take drastic measures..."

Yep that's the thing, Superantispyware removes /quarantines it, then I reboot, then having been to no websites at all... it's still there, regenerating. So I can't see why any harmless cookie would do that.

Thanks guys.

Dear b101,
Glad that i could be of some help! phantom010 deserves all the kudos!
Hey,dear b, i am not finished with you yet!! See how i have put hewee's advise to good effect about snapshooting what i want you to view.

Since i use FF 3.5,under "options"> Privacy>Tick"accept cookies" and below that untick"allow third party cookies". That's what i'll show you in the first thumbnail. It never hurt me with that choice! I simply don't want to tangle with these 3rd party cookies!

Enter stage left, the Importance of HOSTS File as i will show in the second thumbnail. The big list of BLOCKED websites are the gift from HOSTS! You can add to that!

When you say it's still there, what exactly do you mean? You get an alert from AVG or you simply see the cookie in the quarantined folder of SAS or AVG?

By the way, if you can't find it anywhere in Windows, it's normal, it's quarantined!

If it's simply quarantined, delete it.

Can't you delete the cookie from the quarantined folder?

Can't you configure AVG to ignore tracking cookies?

Perhaps you should post a HijackThis log so we can see what's running on your computer, or malware.

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

You may also have a problem with AVG itself. You could uninstall it with the AVG Remover and then reinstall it.

Then, see if you have the same issue with the cookie when you delete it from quarantine.

Cookies never go to a quarantined folder or get backed up so once they are deleted they are gone unless they changed things and I don't know about it because I never get tracking cookie but but for google.

So your have to back them up other ways.
