Solved: Kaspersky on an NC20 Netbook
Evening All

I received an NC20 about 10 days ago, and have been busy putting all the Apps. on that I need.
For about 20% of the time, when I boot up or restart, the Taskbar remains blank, or takes up to 10 mins to populate. Also, unless I allow a few mins to elapse after Windows has finished booting, before opening a window or running a program, the comp. freezes, and I have to shut off the power and reboot.
Overall, the Comp. is unstable and prone to freezing, requiring an Power-Off.

After much checking, disabling and enabling start-up programs, it appears that the culprit is Kaspersky Internet Security Suite, as with it disabled all seems fine.
This program works fine on my Desktop and on my old Laptop, and I can't figure out why it is giving trouble on my NC20
I did wonder if the main processor or the graphics chip weren't compatible with Kaspersky, and would be interested if anyone else has the same problem - and if a solution has been found - apart from installing a different security suite (I like this one!).

You might have another application conflicting with KIS. KIS is a very good product but tends to do this sometimes. Some have had problems with KIS when running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware at the same time.

Netbooks aren't as powerful as other computers. It's likely that Kaspersky is just too resource-intensive to run on a netbook.

Thanks for the comments.

I'll try to find out what is conflicting with KIS. Most of my Apps were running O.K. with it on my old Laptop which had a 1GHz processor, although that was an Intel chip while this is an 1.5Ghz Via Nano chip which I have heard isn't as good at multitasking.

Failing that I will have to find a Viruskiller and Firewall that is easier on resources.

I was going to uninstall KIS and try Avira, but chose the Repair option instead of the uninstall.
All appears to be working O.K. now, with a quicker boot time than previously.
It didn't occur to me that it could be a faulty installation, as KIS seemed to be working O.K.

:-) :-)
