Solved: Linksys Router loses encryption and password
After a couple of months of ignoring it, I go into my Linksys WRT54GS router to look around {via http://192.168.1.1} and I always find that there is no Wi-Fi security on (WPA encryption) and no password set. I've had this encryption done by a professional computer person and I have managed to do it myself a couple times.
My question is, can the Linksys router be turned off at the plug without losing these settings or must the router be left "ON" 24/7?

Hi:I have the same router and have powered it off a number of times with no loss of security.
If you think that might be a problem, probably a simple test would be check security before, and then unplug it for about a minute, power it up,and see if your security key has been compromised.

Thankx for the quick reply!

I have turned off my router a couple times for the night and turned it back on in the morning and I have not 'lost' the settings. That is good but I still wonder why, after a period of unknown time, those settings are returned to default on their own. I guess I'll just have to check it more often if I want to have security.

Thankx again for the reply.
