I am trying to upgrade from AVG 7.5 to AVG 8.5, the 7.5 never did run properly. When I try to open AVG it only opens momentarily then closes. This is happening with anything AVG related including the AVG website.
I have tried Uninstall using the control panel, & AVG's uninstall. If I try to open the AVG folder in programs it only opens for a second as well. I tried installing AVG 8.5 as well as using AVG's removal tool with the same results.
I was able to catch a flash when trying to execute the setup file from 7.5 about it being expired. I was also able to catch a flash from the read me file on the removal tool(which only opens for a second as well) that said something about the directories key failed to open.
Does anybody have any idea how to get 7.5 out so I can install 8.5? Thank you in advance for any help.

You could try using the free Revo Uninstaller.

Thank you Golferbob-I tried the removal tool from avg's site. It opens, the bar goes about about 1/2 way then it closes. I can not get it to run complete. This is where the read me file (that I can open only for a second) said something about "Directories key failed to open".
