Angry crazy dialog box pops up
Big Fix canceled everybody April 30. Now when my screen saver is on, I wiggle the mouse and it goes to the icon page. The background is there, (ocean, island, palm trees), but no icons. A dialog box is there which says

This computer is in use and locked. Only your (bunch of numbers) (owner Pat Stringer) or an administrator can unlock this computer.
User name: owner
Password: this is blank
then below is an ok so I CAN GET ON IT but I have to go through this every time it goes back to my screen saver. HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?
I contacted Big Fix by email but got no answer. I didn't ask for Big Fix, I didn't ask to have it removed, they just quit, I guess. As soon as I click OK, my icons come up and I'm in business.

I think you are talking about the screensaver option to return to the login prompt. On the screen where you select your screensaver, there is a checkbox for displaying the login screen when you attempt to cancel the screensaver.

can't find thank you message box
I'm trying to answer lunarlander because he solved my problem and I don't find a place to write my thank you. All I see is 2 messages that he responded to. I clicked on both urls (tech-org and his name ). The sites came up, but no place to write my message. I got his "about me" and "statistics" and searched the page thoroughly. I'm really having trouble navigating the whole website. It's very difficult to use so you'll probably see lots of me. I'm 77 years old, but I can find my way around a computer a little. Can also tear one down to bare bones and put it back together complete with needed new parts. My trouble is the bios thingys, o.s thingys and fixing things like what lunarlander just solved for me. I hope he sees this as I am very grateful. patwannabe Good heavens! Is this the thank you box? I just noticed "Reply to Thread" above the red line, but I don't know now how I got it.

Just post a reply, as you did, no matter whether you want to thank somebody, add information about your problem, help somebody else, or whatever.

At the upper left of this page is a "Mark Solved" button you can click to mark your thread "Solved."

I realized after posting the above is that your issue is likely that you are not going to your thread. I disabled email alerts ages ago and tend to forget about them. In that email there should be a link to your thread.

If you instead start by going to the main TechGuy page there are navigation tools at the top. If you click the drop down arrow by 'Quick Links' you'll see that one option is 'Subscribed Threads.' Since you are automatically subscribed to any thread to which you post that link will take you to a list of all the threads to which you've posted.

A little below that is a line of forum categories--Security & HJT, Software and Hardware, etc. Hover your mouse pointer over one and you'll see the specific forums--such as this one, General Security. When you go to one of those forums you can Start a new thread or read any of the existing ones. When you read a thread you will see a 'Reply' box at the bottom of the page.
