any good FREE firewall protection out there to download?

COMODO Firewall Pro. It takes a bit of learning; you may need to do a little research or go through the Help file a bit, but it's pretty effective.

If you have a router for your Internet connection it may have a built-in firewall. Send us the model number if you like and we can tell you if you aren't sure. Not that I condone this action at all, but I'm running my Vista SP2 laptop without a software AV or firewall behind a D-Link WBR 2310 and I've never had an infection.

You and i seem to be only two people who use Windows Defender! It's next to useless is the site members opinion! You have the best combination of tools to protect yourself, except that Elvandil, a highly respected Moderator of this site says that around 800 viruses are generated daily and no A-V can contain that!
