| kytana: Do the following in the order listed: 1. Uninstall Webroot Spy Sweeper and Uniblue Registry Booster. Restart your computer. Go into the C:\Program Files folder and delete the folders for those 2 programs - if they're still there. 2. Go here and click the green icon to download Sun Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.14. Save it for now and don't install it yet. Go into Add Or Remove Programs and uninstall version 1.6.0.07 and any other older versions still present. Install version 1.6.0.14. Restart your computer. 3. Go here and here and click the green icon to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.40 and SUPERAntiSpyware 4.27.0.1000. Install them both and then run their update function to get the latest definition files installed. Just install and update them for now and don't run any scans yet. Restart your computer. 4. Run a HijackThis scan and then post that new log here. --------------------------------------------------------------- Do you use an iPod in conjunction with iTunes and QuickTime with that computer? This log entry O23 - Service: 89B9FA7F - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\8DB22C09.EXE (file missing) looks suspicious. I've researched it and can't find out anything about it. --------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by flavallee; 04-Aug-2009 at 02:37 PM.. |

I needed to know if you use an iPod and iTunes because it has a bearing on whether some startup entries can be disabled from automatically loading and running. I'm glad to hear your computer is running a little faster. Getting rid of Webroot Spy Sweeper and Uniblue Registry Booster took some of the load off of it. ------------------------------------------------------------- We're going to get the startup load trimmed down. Follow my instructions carefully and take your time doing it. After you're done and have restarted your computer, post a new HijackThis log here. Click Start - Run, type in MSCONFIG and then click OK - "Startup"(tab). Remove the checkmark from all entries, except for ctfmon. After you're done, click Apply - OK/Close - Exit Without Restart. Click Start - Run, type in SERVICES.MSC and then click OK. Expand the window to see the list more clearly. Highlight and double-click on 89B9FA7F Canon Camera Access Library 8 (CCALib8) InstallDriver Table Manager (IDriverT) Java Quick Starter (JavaQuickStarterService) NVIDIA Display Driver Service (NVSvc) Change the setting from Automatic(if currently set there) to Manual, then click Apply - OK. You have to change one entry at a time. After you're done, close the window and restart your computer. When the small SCU window(see thumbnail image) appears on the desktop, ignore the message. Put a checkmark in that window and then click OK. ----------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by flavallee; 14-Aug-2009 at 09:55 AM.. |

| Run a scan with HijackThis, put a checkmark in O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [RunNarrator] Narrator.exe (User 'SYSTEM') O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [RunNarrator] Narrator.exe (User 'Default user') then click "Fix Checked". --------------------------------------------------------------- Start Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware, go into their log section, obtain a copy of the log, then copy-and-paste both logs here. I'm assuming that you updated them with the latest definition files BEFORE running a scan, then selected and fixed EVERYTHING they found, then restarted your computer afterwards. We need to see what was found, then determine if your thread needs to be moved to the "Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs" section for further assistance. -------------------------------------------------------------- |
