Dear skyfox,
How do you connect to the web when on palm OS? Are you using the "Blazer" browser (Ver.)?

Security issues? Since Palm OS is old technology, the last thing you need to worry about is a virus.

ACCESS is a Jap. company which owns the palm OS. DoubleHelix is right when he says that security-related issues are very minimal, mainly because it's an open source technology. ACCESS has announced that from the middle of 2008 it is going to release phones based on the ACCESS based Linux Platform.

Two of the world's largest operators, NTT DoCoMo and Orange, have announced support for ACCESS Linux Platform-based handsets.(Courtesy Wiki).

In March 2006, ACCESS acquired IP Infusion, Inc., a provider of intelligent networking software, providing Layer 2 and Layer 3 carrier-class switching and routing as well as a comprehensive forwarding plane implementation supporting L2, L3 (IPv4 & v6), multicast and MPLS/Traffic Engineering.
ACCESS is active in open source-related efforts, including memberships in the Linux Foundation, the Linux Phone Standards Forum, as well as being a member of the GNOME Foundation Advisory Board. In 2007, ACCESS employees presented at GUADEC (which the company also sponsored) and the Ottawa Linux Symposium. source: wiki

Very impressive info', like IP infusion, multicast and MPLS/Traffic Engineering,(About which my know. is ziltch) which show that ACCESS is no longer using old tech., but is catching up indeed! Hail Linux!

So, dear skyfox, you are in safe hands, at least for the time, until and unless these geniuses of the hacker pack don't turn their attention towards linux! Best wishes!

Interesting post, perfume, but I have no idea what it has to do with the poster's question. Palm OS is not Linux.

Dear DoubleHelix,
Yes, i stand corrected! Never knew that palm OS itself is a different OS by itself. Now, coming to skyfox's query about the safety of using Adobe Reader on even the latest version of palm OS, Version 7 of the Reader is compatible (as far as i know)!

Quote "
Adobe Reader for Palm OS includes two components that work together:
  • The desktop application (and conduit during HotSyncŪ) runs on your desktop computer. It prepares PDF files for the Palm OS and transports them to the user's handheld device.
  • The reader is the Palm OS application that runs on the Palm OS device, designed to accommodate the characteristics of small-screen devices." Unquote. Source link : http://www.adobe.com/products/acroba...erforpalm.html
Here is the problem, A-R Ver. 7 is old and the latest is Ver.9, so the the previous versions to 9 are vulnerable and assuming that version 7 is vulnerable, skyfox "may" be advised to check whether ver.9 can be downloaded to the desktop and used for transport to the palm OS! The main problem is the Desktop ver. which supports palm, ADOBE READER ver.7!
Thank you, DoubleHelix, for correcting me!
