Solved: Windows Update on Logging Off
Hi,

I hope I am posting this in the correct forum, I believe it could be a security issue?!?

Every evening this week when I log off and shutdown my laptop, a box appears saying: 'Automatically installing updates and will turn off automatically when completed', which I know in itself is nothing unusual.
However, I have this happen every evening this week and I have had in excess of 50 automatic windows updates in 4 evenings!! and my laptop does not appear to complete the updates, but rather run out of battery life and turn off, and I restart on mains power the next day no problem.

Has Microsoft gone update mad and released 50+ updates this week?
Or could it be something has hijacked the shut down proces and the laptop won't turn off?

I am running Windows XP.

Thanks,

watty.
