I used to have zone alarm on my computer. I have reformatted the pc. I am using win xp pro sp3. I had a lot of problems with ZA when ms released an update last year that conflicted with it. it seems my pc was never the same after that til I reformatted it recently. I wonder if I should reinstall ZA again. does anyone have opinions about ZA. my pc is working great now and I don't know whether I should try ZA again or leave well enough alone and get a free anti-virus. I already paid for zone alarm so I wonder if I should try it again. thanks in advance.

Try Online Armor or Comodo instead. | | Senior Member with 1,585 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: An Alien,a misfit on Earth Experience: Intermediate++ | | Dear phantom010,
Welcome back! Sometimes, the money we spent on buying a product should be written off as a bad loan LOL! It happened to me with Real Player Gold! Never regretted losing the bet as i found i was better off without it than having that"spyware" on the PC! Found solace and an excellent free replacement in Winamp Full and VLC player! I am woefully ignorant when it comes to tech issues so excuse me if I am in the wrong forum but here is my problem: An annoying pop-up that claims my computer has a Trojan virus keeps popping up and WILL NOT go away. Someone told me to press ctrl, alt, & delete to stop the 'program' from popping-up. I did all that and it was ok for 30 minutes but the pop-up is back. There is info all over the web about this about how to stop the pop-up and what I need to do but the abundance of "helpful' info is making me even more confused. I am assuming there is a relatively easy and FREE way to stop this annoying pop-up advertisment from appearing. Also, there is a pop-up on the bottom of my screen that tries to look legit thru a fake logo that looks like MSN's or something, and it tells me that the computer has the trojan virus and I need to click to give them money now to correct situation. IT WILL NOT GO AWAY!!! Please help~ANYONE....thanx | | Senior Member with 1,585 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: An Alien,a misfit on Earth Experience: Intermediate++ | | Quote:

You are in the wrong thread, because we are discussing Zone-Alarm Firewall! Phantom010 is a real gentleman and won't tick you off, and i am an Alien and the ways of your world are mysterious. So,please click on"Security and HJT" and click on> "General Security OR Malware forums" , and click on "NEW and type the heading as something like '"TROJAN POP-UPS-HELP". Do it now, before it's too late! | | Junior Member with 2 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2009 Experience: Beginner | | Quote:

I don't know anyone else to ask about these things. I appreciate you all so much. Is the internet security also not good? should I just skip using it? thanks again

Try Online Armor or Comodo instead. | Since you've had a bad experience with Z-A, why invite that headache again (That's what phantom must have meant)? Turn off the Windows firewall and download and install Online Armor Firewall. What is "internet security" you have mentioned? Kindly give the full name of the software you have. | | Distinguished Member with 4,606 posts. | | Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Ontario, Canada Experience: Getting it | | | | | Junior Member with 10 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2009 Experience: Beginner |

#10 | hi,
here is the full name of the software. I have zonealarm internet security suite. it is an antivirus, anti-spyware, program with parental controls and a firewall. it does a lot of different things. if I don't use it what would I do about viruses, spyware, malware, parental controls, etc.?
