I am having trouble with my windows vista basic. I have run malware bytes, avira, and ad-aware. Malwarebytes removed everything nicely but ad-aware still comes up with a cookie virus. when i hit remove it says successful but it comes back. everything is fine until i open mozilla where google is my homepage. there it opens google along with a popup tab(mostly adultfriendfinder, true and acai detox).any help is welcome.thanks

I suggest you download and install Super Anti-Spyware (free) and run it to see if the same "item" is recurring every time! Download site : http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Today, hewee-- a distinguished member in this site was advising us about how not to allow cookies from entering via browsers. I will take the example he offered for IE7 or 8 versions. Under Tools>internet options>Privacy>click Default>set slider all the way HIGH> Advanced> Override automatic cookie handling (Tick It) and below> tick>block first party cookies and also Third party cookies. Click okay and apply(where indicated).

Again in IE7 or 8 Tools>internet options>security> Trusted sites> add >*.google.com, *.techguy.org, etc. Untick>verification needed(https). You can add all the sites you regularly visit and add them to the trusted sites. Hope this helps. If the cookie keeps returning when you run SAS(free), kindly let us all know the name of the tracking cookie! Best wishes!

As for the cookies issue, we are talking about Firefox and I have it set not to accept cookies from third party sites except for the ones I have listed in exceptions.

Also, it's not a good idea to add sites to the Trusted zone unless absolutely necessary as this means they are given free rein to bypass any and all security measures on your computer and even sites you know and trust can be compromised by hackers at times.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart. (See Extra Note)
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy and paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Kaspersky online scanner uses JAVA tecnology to perform the scan. If you do not have Java then you will need to go to the following link and download the latest version:

Instructions for Kaspersky scan:

1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
4. Make sure the following is checked.
   • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs

5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
