Gubz:

Is your computer relying solely on on-line scanners, or does it have a full-time antivirus program installed?

Dear Gubz,
I would like to differ a little, just to highlight how individual perceptions are so subjective!

When i tried to run Panda Online-Scanner(O-S), it said i don't have IE 8 installed! Wrongo!

When i ran Trend-Micro, it came up with a bunch of trojans, the first one being Kaspersky security suite 2009 i have on my PC! Theoretically, yes, my KIS could have been infected and neither Virustotal (41 A-Vs ) nor Jotti picked up anything and KIS was doing it's job of identifying "viruses" at the gate and stopping the Chinese who love me so much, they want to see what's happening inside my PC(network intrusion attacks-minimum of 4 a day)!

Finally the " piece de resistance"--> "main dish at dinner", was only BitDefender O-S which was as smooth as chinese silk and tasty as the french dessert" Creme Brulee"! That's what i call "different strokes for different folks"!

Dear Gubz
Yes, it does, but only after you allow an Active-x from MS to be installed! I used IE8 for this purpose, a rare exception to the rule " your hands will burneth, if you toucheth or even thinketh of IE"! Blessed be the soul who useth Firefox! LOL!

If your want to do a online scan because you found something on your computer so want to see what other scanners say you can do that.

But if you only want to have a online scan of the file that is found on
your PC then upload to these sites that do a scan from multi scannners.
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.virustotal.com/
http://virscan.org/
http://www.viruschief.com/
http://scanner.virus.org/

Other scanners
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://onlinescan.avast.com/
http://www.gietl.com/test-clamav/
http://www.fortiguard.com/antivirus/virus_scanner.html

You can save a lot of added scanning time if you just want to rescan files that your scanner says may have something using the first group listed.

No install is need with these because you upload to the site. May have to let java script run but that is it. No cookies are needed either.

You're welcome. Now just that first group have the multi-scanners.
Also I like to go to more then one because some even with the same scanners are not up to date as another site.

Dear hewee,
"Rem AGU tetigisti"---> hope i have not forgotten my lessons in Sidwell, meaning "You have hit it right on the head(something like that)! All those girls were more naughty than boys! French are romantic at heart, there's no denying that! When we were leaving Wash.D.C, i literally ran when all the girls came to me for autographs and not a single boy wanted mine( jealous?). It's all in the eyes, dear hewee!
