I recently got the "Your System is Infected with a Virus" disaster.

I did not down load anything -- I knew the prompts were all fake so I shut down and after I rebooted, I attempted to go into SafeMode. That was unsucessful. I got a text screen with various options but I could not Windows to ever launch.

So I took out my OS disc and tried to repair it with the disc. (A year ago that helped me with the blue screen so I figured to give it a try).

Well, things were progressing nicely -- I got passed most of the sequneces. I got all the way to where the screen is blue, it has Window XP in the upper right (I have XP Home, SP3 on my Dell Dimension 3000) and it says "Set Up is being Restarted" but that's where things stop going well.

The screen goes blank for a few seconds and when it comes back it's black with "Safe Mode" in the 4 corners and in the center there's a dialog box which states "Windos XP Cannot Run Under SafeMode. Set Up Will Restart Now." And that's just a never ending loop going back and forth, around and around never getting any further.

Please, please can someone help???
