Unhappy Question on AV Install
I uninstalled my original AV years ago and have been using the free ones.I uninstalled Panda and installed CA a while back.Today I uninstalled CA and was going to dowmload AVG.It says-You already have an AV program installed. Please uninstall so there is no conflict.I go to control panel and program list and no AV program shows up.There is probably a remnant of one of my old AV programs somewhere on my computer.Where would I go to try and find out?Probably a hidden file?

You could give Belarc a try it lists just abut everything on your computer http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html ....if you still have problems give Avast antivirus a try its free, for years I was a staunch supporter of AVG then started having problems with it,so gave Avast a try and have found it to be very good indeed.just as good as AVG ....If you decide to give it a try you can get it here http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Dear gorper99,
Yes, you can "unhide" hidden files : C:\-->Program files--> Tools--->Folder Options--->View---> choose "Show hidden files". Now, you may type CA anti-virus (am i right?) in the search box, take the help of the Search companion "doggie"---> all files and folders---> all disks. Once the results are displayed, you may delete them ! If i have missed a step here and there, blame "BECK" (Rockster), 'cos listening to his songs( which i anyway do on Winamp) and am confused as him!JJ !(just joking)! All the best.

PS: Advise unasked for, Avast and Avira Antivir are excellent!
