Standby mode
After using the computer, I log off and go into standby mode until I need to use the computer again. Lately, the computer won't respond and I have to turn off manually.

Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate >
and then see if Hibernate is enabled. If it is, uncheck the box.

My personal advice?

In the "Power Schemes" tab, set the power scheme to "Always on" and set everything else to "Never".

In the "Advanced" tab, set power button to "Shut down" and set sleep button to "Do nothing".
(Note: If the computer is a laptop, set close lid to "Do nothing".)

In the "Hibernation" tab, uncheck "Enable hibernation".

---------------------------------------------------------------

Hibernate, suspend, sleep, standby, etc. can be quirky and not work right - as you've found out.

You'll have less problems if you shut down that computer after you're done with it.

At less one restart a day is good for it too.

Smile standby mode problems
I followed your advice but if I change to "always on", and try to save I get a warning window that says "Indicates two revision levels are incompatible". So when I went back, it was on max battery. To begin, it was on home/office desk.
I unclicked hibernate and put all the rest on never (hard disk, monitor and system standby).
The UPS tab says "is currently stopped". Does all of this sound okay?
Thanks.
