All that work - and I tried to ruin it via Microsoft. haha

I deleted it.

I didn't have any luck trying to edit the startup list and that was one of the options on the page on how to edit the startup list.

This is all the 04 files from a current HijackThis log:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG8_TRAY] C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgtray.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Belkin F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter Utility.lnk = C:\Program Files\Belkin\F5D8053\Belkinwcui.exe

I'm very happy with the results and will gladly mark this issue as fixed if you are happy with it. I will also encourage my Dad to make a donation again like I told him to do back in 2007 when Norton caused us all kinds of problems and this forum helped me fix it.

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup"(tab)

Uncheck jusched

Click Apply - OK - Exit Without Restart

Next, go to Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC - OK

Double-click on Java Quick Starter

Change it from Automatic to Manual

Click Apply - OK, then close the window

Restart your computer

When the small SCU window(see screenshot) appears, put a checkmark in it, then click OK

Thanks - that is a much better way to edit the start-up list.

Yes, it is.

Now that you've edited the startup load and hopefully uninstalled Windows Defender , post a new HijackThis log here.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I've been replying to a bunch of threads for the last 2 - 3 hours and am ready to take a break from this computer. If you don't get a quick reply from me after you post back here, I'll get back to you tomorrow.
