Anyone ideas?
The kids left my pc on....The next time i tried to log on a old windows appeared saying i had in sufficient access. I ran in safe mode and did a Kapasky scan, which let me log on to my user account.
Everything pops up in old 98 windows (running xp)and there is no history regarding system restore. Even though i have had the pc for 4 years.The explorer window also has no history and the start bar is the same.
The lauguage and currency is stuck in US dollars and even after customiser it returns to US......Most of the desktop icons regarding files have dissappered.

Any ideas? Computer novice by the way as you might have realised.

Do you even have a Windows 98 disk?
How old are the children?
Is it possible that they may have messed up your machine, then tried to repair it without you knowing, or themselves knowing what they were doing?
Has 98 ever even been installed on your machine?

I'm sure they just changed the skin in control panel you have classic or xp versions. classic being 98.

It was bought new with XP installed. Ny profile which is supposed to be admin cannot access nost applications and programs. I change the skin in control panel but in goes right back just like the language settings.....;_(
Programs are like they were first installed i.e welcome adobe.....welcome to etc..... installing !!!!
My Kaparsky Security has history right back to February, but no restore dates at all. Everything is ok in safe mode......
Can i delete my account and instruct a new one or should i wipe it???
