Angry Solved: Removal of norton rescue disk
I have been attempting to remove Norton Antivirus on my computer and install McAfee. McAfee keeps telling me I need to remove Norton Rescue Disk. I have tried using the Norton uninstaller software, have removed all files with Symantec or NAV from my hard drive, have edited my registery, have talked to both Norton and McAfee with absolutely no help. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Click on Start > Run > type regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Nort on Rescue

Check to see if you have this registry key or something similar. If you do, please remove it and retry the install.

By Norton Uninstaller Software, did you mean the Norton Removal Tool?

Yes, I did mean the Norton Removal Tool (which obviously doesn't really remove everything). Thank you, thank you so much. That did the trick. I have now installed McAfee. This website is the best!!
