Can't get at my data
I have a very old laptop, Dell latitude CPi which hasn't been used in more than 6 months.
I need to get some data off the HD and tried to boot up and was faced with a request for a password. I can't recall ever being asked for it before but I need the password to get at the data.
I've tried the setup routine but it just shuts down. This is awful as it's photos on there from a year or so. Family and friends etc.
How can I override the startup? I can delve around inside but is there a reset jumper as there is in a PC?
Help really needed.

OK. I do understand but I have proof of ownership so maybe Dell could help?
I would like to get hold of the photos so I'll keep on plugging away.
Thanks anyway.

As stated, we cannot assist with password issues so I'm closing this thread.

A computer repair shop should be able to help you.
