Question about odd browser errors...
Hi everyone. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question: I've been worried by an error I've seen twice tonight while browsing, and I don't know where else to ask!

I'm running Opera 10 on Windows 7 RTM, both updated to the latest. Tonight I was browsing through some Yahoo Groups on the yahoo groups website, and when I tried to navigate around some of the groups I received an error that was something like:

"502 proxy error" and something about a /GET command - all of which seemed to be displayed on a Yahoo page, not an Opera error dialog or a Windows one.

I'm not using a proxy at all, and I'm somewhat worried that this might have something to do with browser hijacking or IP redirection! I ran an A/V scan with NOD32 v4, updated to the latest definitions, but it didn't find anything.

I've not seen the error crop up again, but I find it very worrisome, because I don't use a proxy and I'm afraid this means I've been compromised. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've never seen this error before!

Did you try Googling that error message? I got this when I did; http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E502.html and it was one of 56000 'hits'.

Obviously, there is no guarantee that this one result provides a comprehensive answer to your concerns, but it doesn't appear to be too worrying, assuming this information is accurate!;

"If you get this problem for only some of the Web sites you try to visit then it is likely to be a problem at those sites i.e. one of their pieces of equipment is failing/overloaded. Contact the people at those sites."

I'm using Opera 10 with XP Home and I've never seen that message (but I've never knowingly accessed any Yahoo Groups either!). I thought Windows 7 wasn't 'final' until next month. Are you using a Release Candidate?
