Question Kaspersky Update Disabled
I'm using Kaspersky Internet security 2007. It doesn't update. I've set the setting to Update Automatically. Whenever I start the machine it complains that the the 'database is out of date, please update' message. When I right click the system tray icon and click update, it opens up a window which says "Update: disabled" in the title bar.
I seriesly need it updated quickly as possible. Is there any setting to enable the update? Do I need to something in Windows XP or do something in the Kaspersky settings?

Well, Kaspersky is now selling version 2010! Perhaps you should upgrade. Version 2007 may not be supported anymore.

I don't think that it's the reason. Because, I know lots of other peopple still using KIS 2007 & experiencing no problems with upgrade. On the other hand Kaspersky Lab won't just unsupport this within about 3 short years, I guess.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

If still no luck, try Kaspersky customer support.

Are you sure that your copy of Kaspersky is legit and isn't blacklisted?
Being blacklisted will disable your Update feature.

Of coarse it's legal. Why can't a virus disable the update? Any way I'm going to shift to another Anti Virus.

Is the date and the time correct in your system tray? Many Antivirus programs will not update if it is not correct.

Yes It's exactly correct.
I came to know that this is the case with other PC's that I use in my campus labs. I used to transfer data between these PC's to my home PC. This is definitely a virus causing the issue.

I doubt it's a virus as we almost never see them anymore. I would download and install Superantispyware, update and run a complete scan with it.

Hello Rich-M

I downloaded the free version of superantispyware and ran it. It found a couple of threats and removed it. Even then I couldn't update the KIS. But now I solved it by uninstalled the KIS and installed it again.
Any way thank you for let me knowing the nice program.
I also thank everybody tried to solve my issue.

Cheers guys.
