Cannot access c: Drive
Hi all,

I have exactly the same problem as recently posted on this forum.
My only problem is that the final post simply says.

"Need no more help, I have fixed it

thank 4 trying"

Which though fine for Chloe does not help anyone else really, especially poor ole me

Please can someone let me know how to resolve it.

I feel sure its something to do with the shares or similar.
I not even able to carry out a Restore.
I will post a definitive answer to the problem

TIA.

What is your Operating System? XP Pro or Home? Vista? This info should always be specified.

Do you have Administrative Privileges to access C drive?

Using XP Pro or Home:

Take Ownership of the Drive

In XP Pro, if you cannot view the Security tab, read this.

In XP Home, if you cannot view the Security tab, reboot in Safe Mode and the tab will appear.

Additional Info
Apologies for not giving these specifics.

I'm running Vista with all SP and updates installed.

And I am the administrator as its my home Desktop PC so untill last night I could access every inch/platter of my C: drive.

Its so bad because it now will not start office or other apps as they're all installed in c:\Programme Files.

There must be a way to reclaim ownership.
Help please

Many thanks for all the help.
However after trying all the above options and others I gave up in total frustration and did a format and Vista reinstal which really was long overdue.
Searching far and wide it seems that quite a few others have experienced a total lock out of authority and permisions for the C:drive and all without any success of resolving.
However it also gave me a chance to try to out the online backup service I have been using for nigh on 1¼ years now & it worked a dream though it took a few days to get all of my 34GB.
