DEP message
When I go to a website (PatternReview.com) and then try to go to a different page in that website, I get the DEP message. THis is something new as I have used that website many times with no problem. I am taking an online class there and would like to be able to access it. Can anyone figure it out. I have WindowsXP and IE7?

Adding to the previous post. I tried doing the same thing with Firefox and had no problem. I guess the problem then is with IE. Is there an answer for that?

You can turn off DEP in IE7 by going to Internet Options, and on the Advanced tab uncheck the box next to "Enable memory protection to help mitigate online attacks". You need to be logged onto an account that has admin rights to change this option.

Thanks for the answer. But, I don't understand 'admin rights" ? Do I have to have a password to do this?

I just re-read your original post. You have Windows XP which doesn't have the same option, so ignore my earler post.

Instead you need to right click on My Computer, then Properties, Advanced, Performance Settings then Data Execution Prevention. Then tick the button next to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select".

Click "Add" and navigate to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer, and select iexplore.exe. Click Open, Apply, OK, and OK again.

(This disables DEP from working in IE7. I had to do it this week when IT decided to push IE7 to all computers at work and I was getting 3-4 DEP errors per day).

DEP problem
Thank you for the help. I did what you directed and so I will see if it works. I need to restart in order for it to be effective.
