hotmail/postmaster deliverly issue
Hi,

I am a new person to this forum so i hope this issue is posted in the right area.

I have a hotmail email account and have had the some one for about 10 years. I just checked my email and at the same time i was signed into my windows live messanger. I started recieving tons of emails from the postmaster delivery failure address. It even booted me out of my live messanger. I have not emailed any of the addresses they mentioned. the emails kept coming in until I killed my internet connection and and restarted it. What is really weird tho is when i restarted my email to delete the 36 postmaster messages i received, they were gone. I have since changed my password and that seems to have fixed the issue. what I am wondering, is how worried should i be that I have been hacked. is their any more steps you would recommend taking? i am quite concerned. what does this issue mean?

I hope this all made sense.

Thank so you much for any responses

Mike

In my opinion, you simply have been a victim of E-mail spoofing.

If it is indeed e-mail spoofing, changing your password won't change a thing since it's not needed. You'll need to create a new account. If your e-mail account has been compromised, then you'll have to change your password. In that case, you may have been victim of some sort of phishing scam.

well, nothing out of the ordinary has happened since i changed my password, so maybe ill hold off for a bit and see if anything happens. I kind of want to hold off on creating a new email if possible since i have tons of contacts and use the email for websites and such.

thanks for your responses
