Computer crashes VERY frequently
I know this could be a possibility of overheating or hardware problem, But i was hoping you can look over my software and see if possibly it is the software creating this problem, The main time it crashes is during startup, after i type in my password. Other times, it just crashes at random times, sometimes during gaming, and othertimes during just watching a movie for 30 mins or so.

there could be many reasons for a computer to crash,

You didn't really give enough information to look into. What is it? Desktop, laptop? What Operating system? How much memory?
What protections do you have, firewall, Internet securities, Malware protection? How much space is left on the harddrive? How many programs start up?
Does it always happen within the same program? or anytime ?

I have a Laptop -

ASUS A7T
Windows XP Proffesional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile
Technology TL-56
1.81 Ghz 2.00 gb Ram

Firewall - Zonelab
Malware - Adware
Anti-virus - McAfee

C: 42.5 GB free
D: 13.1 GB free

Many times it happens within the first 5 minutes of starting up the computer. Other times it just randomly happens anytimes. I'd have to say yesterday I crashed at least a good 10+ times throughout the day. Most of them while starting up the computer after the last crash that happened while playing a video game or watching a movie

does it bluescreen, or just die? If it bluescreens out, go to c:\windows\minidump, zip the latest file (they are named by date) and attach it here. Tomorrow I can analyze it. Don't have a debugger here on my linux rig.

thanks,

v

No, no blue screens. It just freezes, the windows and the actual programs just freeze, I can still alt-tab and scroll through the tabs for a few minutes before that too just freezes. I can control the mouse the entire time this occurs.

go to start > run > eventvwr.msc > check in applications and double click on any exclamation points in the right pane. That will open up a dialog box that has two pieces of paper on the right side; click that to copy that to your clipboard, come back here and paste it.

Do the same for the system log. You can ignore the security log. Only copy the last 3 out of each of them.

thanks,

v
