McAfee Mess
We all know that laptop manufacturers pre-load software and make a bit by doing that. Well, business is business I say.
So, I just got a Acer laptop from loaded with a "trial" of McAfee. I don't want it, hate it, and have my own to install. Problem is, Windows won't let me uninstall it. Says "a file is running in another program". There are no provisions to uninstall this anywhere (convenient huh!). I am so mad I could spit. Can't install my anti-virus (Eset) because it sees McAfee running....doh!
Am running Windows 7 64 bit.
Can anyone out there help. If not, I'm sending this thing back to Newegg and slamming it in a review. I found that McAfee has some sort of tool to remove but of course you have to activate it, pay for it and then you can D/L the tool but they only have instructions for XP & Vista, don't know if it works on 7 and I'll be dammed if I'm going to pay this scheister outfit McAfee a penny.
Thanks
Duke

The McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool is free.

It's not going to hurt anything to download and save it, close all open windows, then run it. It may very well work with Windows 7.

Thanks. I am aware that it's free, the money I was referring to is that you have to activate the product, pay for it, and then you can run the tool. At least that's what the McAfee video said. But thanks for your time and advice, I appreciate it.

That's a bunch of crap. Download and save the tool, close all open windows, then run it.
