I thought of that but when I tried to create a restore point it doesn't go back to the date i'm trying to use. What format do I need to use in order to put in a specific date for the restore point? If I do that prior to the uninstallaion of the norton will it reinstall it?

You don't create one, you use one of the ones that are there to restore the system. The bold dates are the possible choices. Yes if you went back prior to Norton uninstall, it would be installed and then you could use the removal tool which is the right way to do it.

there is an option to create a restore point if i want 2 go back further than the options provided but it doesn't suggest a format in order to properly pick a date for the restore point

Open up system restore and click on restore to a previous time and click next.. On the left you will see the calendar with november. If you want to go back to october click on the arrow on the top left of the calendar. Now you can click on whatever date you want to restore back to. Not sure if its the same for vista. If its not, google how to do a system restore in vista
