Dear dotty999,
Thank u! That's one burden off my chest! Secunia was all the time detecting ff 3.5.3 whereas the updated version on my desktop was 3.5.5. KIS 2010 has a vulnerability scan and whenever i run it, the report asks me to set right IE 8. No mention of ff! Kis2010 has a sort of "sandboxed" version of IE ,and other browsers can be added to the list. The downloads while using these browsers go into a special folder, from where these can be installed. These two are a real plus for KIS2010.

you're most welcome!

Some members now use File Hippo to check for software updates, it's worth a try if you haven't already used it

Dear dotty999,
Now that you've mentioned "File Hippo", i have used it and any amount of gnashing my teeth, banging my head on the wall or shouting out loud"why, why why" for the world of me, i can't remember why i had a prob. with the F-H, but i un-installed it! My doctor was telling me that too many "lows" in blood sugar levels(Hypos) may/can lead to these memory lapses because the human brain is "TOTALLY" dependent on glucose for it's functioning. So, there you are!

actually I remember using it a long time ago and it didn't work for me! it would find programmes that needed updating but couldn't perform the task in hand! ggrrr

I'm sorry to hear of your situation, it's no fun I know, my mom has type 2 diabetes but thankfully it's controlled by her diet, she's more fortunate than some

There is an interesting piece about browser 'security' in a recent issue of the Windows Secrets Newsletter which contrasts nicely with the 'findings' of the net-security report ; http://WindowsSecrets.com/comp/091105
Essentially, studies like this are just press releases and publicity stunts. Cenzic sells some Web Application security products, (Interestingly enough they are partnered with the Mozilla Organization), and findings like this are always great attention getters.

However, Cenzic makes no effort to go beyond a head count of vulnerabilities reported. They make no attempt to report the vulnerabilities by severity, they don't say how many were zero day vulnerabilities, and they don't even report how long it took to patch any of the issues they reported. As a realistic indicator of the risk posed by using any of these browsers, the report is totally useless.
