Exclamation Outlook Express Problem.
I was just on my computer randomly watching anime, when all of a sudden, I get a pop up message from outlook express contact info/message, can't remember what it said, a couple minutes later, I got another outlook express contact info/message, and in the to, sender, pretty much all of it, it said can't stop a true blue hacker, on all the lines, can anyone tell me if this is spyware or what? Thank you very much. I have not had this problem, until just today, I am also at the moment running norton internet security full system scan, and ad-aware anti malware: anti spyware+ antirootkit full system scan as well. so far all I have picked up is a tracking cookie via norton. Also nothing has been picked up thus far, and I don't ever use this e-mail program at all.

Uninstall Outlook Express and then delete all traces of it; it will give you a warm feeling inside and should solve the problem

SeanERT:

If you don't have Microsoft Outlook Express set up to receive and send e-mail, and if you're not starting it and using it, I'm a bit confused as to how you're getting pop-up messages from it.

midders:

Microsoft Outlook Express is a built-in part of the Windows operating system and can't be uninstalled. All you can do is not set it up and not use it.

Au contraire, mon ami! There is an option to uninstall it from Control Panel->Add Remove Programs->Windows Components. If you then delete the Outlook Express folder from Program Files, it's gone for good.

Thank you all for your responses, I figured out that it was scare ware, and then it was a trojan, I took care of it, and I won't use that video to watch that episode of that anime anymore, it wasn't an outlook express problem, it was a hacker it seemed at first from the scareware, outlook express popped contact info up/ a new message to send, and it said in all those slots can't stop a true (tru) blue(blu) hacker. in to, from, etc.

After-followup
I hope I can bother you for a few more pieces of information to satisfy my professional curiosity...

Would it be accurate to describe that what happened is that the anime forced open an outbound email through Outlook Express, and that all of the fields contained the "can't stop a true-blue hacker" text?

I'm just trying to ascertain whether this exploit actually opened a real OE outbound message, or just imitated one graphically.

Thanks!
