AVG doesn't scan AOL mail. Suggestions?
I just downloaded AVG 9.0 and discovered that it does not scan AOL email which is on an IMAP mail server.

I need suggestions for a good anti-virus pgm that will scan for viruses, spyware, etc. in addition to scanning AOL email and AOL email attachments and scans all incoming email, regardless of server. Both free AV pgms and paid versions would be acceptable. I just need to be sure that I'm protected overall.

I use AVG Free Edition 9.0 anti-virus, but I don't use "AOL Hell", so I can't address your issue with e-mail scanning.

Two very good and very user-friendly and free anti-spyware/anti-malware programs that I use and recommend are

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.41

SUPERAntiSpyware 4.30.0.1004

They're also well-known and well-recommended in these forums.

Thank you for the reply. I also use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware. Do those two programs scan AOL mail?

I heard that AVAST free anti-virus scan scans AOL mail. Do you know if that's true?

Yes, I know AOL is not a desired program/browser to use but I seem to like it. It's just hard finding programs that are compatible with it.

The free version of MBAM and SAS do not have "real time" scanning for malware and spyware. You have to do a manual scan with them - after you update them first.

No, they do not scan e-mail like an anti-virus program does.
