just downloade version 9.0 and got suckered into installing the avg toolbar with yahoo search.
right-clcked the avg icon and unclicked all the items but this just moved the avg taskbar up one notch.

I'd get rid of Avg! it's not as reliable as it used to be, I personally prefer Avast.

Have you tried using the AVG removal tool and re-installing AVG without the toolbar? You could also try revo uninstaller. It should remove everything and then you can re-install without the toolbar.

thanks for the reply.
i have used avg for many, many years and it has protected me without fail over that time.
the day that it lets me down, i'll use another program.
so far, so good.

herb:

Try reinstalling AVG Free Edition 9.0.707 over itself and see if the option appears to uncheck the AVG toolbar and Yahoo search engine.
