If you are dealing with a ThinkPad hard drive and/or computer password, and not just an ordinary Windows logon password....you need to realize that notebooks like that use security chips which cannot be hacked. You have to send the laptop in for unlocking or install a whole new motherboard in cases where the computer and hard drive are locked. You cannot put the hard drive in any fashion into another computer to read anything, either....the drive is locked. You cannot put a brand new drive into the locked computer, either....it's tough. Costs more to unlock it than it's usually worth. I have a locked ThinkPad myself...
