Just thought to ask if anyone knows a more direct route to remove ones personal address information that comes up in certain searches on the internet. Seems somehow my address is out there and its just a privacy thing. I have found some sites with information but it looks outdated...thanks

Hi,

They get the info usually from the phone directory...if you have a phone company listing, and an address, your info can be used. You can try to get it DE-listed>

See the Note in the box at the bottom of that page....note the other sites that your info is probably also at....you need to check ALL the common public search / Lookup places. I can't tell you how many there are...possibly 50 or more

That's the basic idea! You need to do a Google search and find the " lookup " sites.....and go to each, and find the info on how to get your info DE-listed. Time consuming.... if someone knows of a better way perhaps they can post it.

Yea but clearing history/cookies etc from my computer (which is what I gathered from that website you posted glaryutilites.com) is not what I need to do, I know all about doing that....I am trying to clear my personal address/phone from listings on the internet when I do a search for my name...especially from 123people.com, if you haven't as of yet, go to 123people.com and type in your name or someone else's name and see what comes up....or doesn't come up "if your lucky"

no offense but I clearly stated what I was looking for in my subject line of my post!!! "How to remove your private listing on the Internet?" More and more it's getting to be that people just either don't read nor bother to read anymore, sorry for the outburst but it gets frustrating when you go through all the trouble to clearly post stuff these days...

Losing battle?...Actually....I disagree.... I have been successful in removing my personal address on the net, simply by backtracking the sites that I have joined and removing and or requesting to have my personal info removed, and if they have required in their profile fields I put erroneous information, leaving out street numbers and for a phone number 123-456-7891 at the very least. You can also go back and request postings to be deleted if you by accident left any personal info...so, no at all futile...there is always a solution, not always easy but possible....

Going forward for anyone else who reads this...the key and bottom line is this. Whenever signing up at a site or registering for something, with the exception of an online financial product or bank account (who will be sued if they allow your information to be released, my wife works for a bank!) don't ever give out your personal info no matter what and if they have a required field for instance Address, put Somewhere town , City put, Somewhere town , phone number put 123-456-7891 and don't give out your email addy unless they state in their privacy that it will not be released and if you feel uncomfortable with that, give em a bogus email, heresmyemail@hotmail.com....

The site includes publicly available directory assistance info. Good luck in changing that. Your name and address are also sold to countless places as part of bulk mailing lists. I've certainly never posted and my name and address anywhere on the Internet, and it still pops up on directory searches from time to time.

My phone number, however, has never shown up since I stopped using a land line. There's no directory for VOIP numbers.

Form information? not sure what you mean. What I mean is, go to a site like whitepages.com or 123people.com or yahoo people search or simply go to google and type in either your name and or phone number and see if you are listed...
