AVG Anti-Virus: 2 years for the price of 1!
AVG is the favorite antivirus of a lot of experts (and is the antivirus I use on my computer).

While the Free version works well enough for most people, if you're interested in having all of the features or just want to support a great product, here's a special price for TSG users that you may want to check out!

AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 - 2 years for the price of 1

Thanks, a great deal.

Ha! Actually, I don't know whether or not Grisoft/AVG was at CES. I wouldn't be surprised if they were and I just missed them -- there were a lot of exhibitors there!

I clean more infections from AVG and McAfee "protected" PCs (about an equal number) than any other security apps. Does Tech Support Guy get a commission for this pinned post endorsing AVG? I'd guess I could broker some good commissions from MUCH better security vendors.

BTW, I base my recommendations on what I have to clean up after, NOT a trade show!

First person to say that about AVG, McAfee I think everyone will agree. I don't think it is as much the software you use, but the nimrod that uses the pc, and does not keep the pc patched and visits really bad corners of the internet. I have yet to see any AV product protect 100%, some just better than others, and this changes from year to year who is the "best".

I run 1 pc with no security or AV protection, I do occasionally do an online scan, use mbam and gmer to scan for malware, no infections for years, its all about where you go and what you do with a PC.

If you say there are better security vendors, why not post them?

2 years of bloat for the price of one. I left AVG a year ago, uses too much resources. Down the tubes the past few years, although it's probably still good with viruses.

For free ones, Avira and Avast, and I have one on each computer. None catch 100% of viruses, even if you are careful, but some are rated better than others in tests.

I don't see AVG recommended at any of the forums any more, and I work on about 5. And it started having problems with Firefox 3 when that came out.

AVG Anti-Virus has gone south in the past year. IMO
