What Anti-Virus Program should I use?
I just recently disinfected my computer thanks to you guys, and I was wondering what Anti-Virus program you guys would recommend for protecting my computer.

I also have a Windows 7 laptop I just bought and I'm looking to buy protection for it as well. Just wondering what you guys think is the best one.

I've moved your thread to the General Security forum. Most people can not post in Malware Removal so you will get better response here.

My vote is for Nod32 at www.eset.com but also use Malwarebytes Paid version as well set to scan daily and auto update.

Whichever antivirus you decide to go with,.. consider installing the free version of "Immunet Protect" cloud antivirus. It's real time protection and best of all, it works in harmony with your regular antivirus such as AVG, Avast, Norton and so on.
In a world where we are told that you cant run more than ONE real-time antivirus program, Immunet breaks the rules and gets on with them all.

I use ESET NOD32 too. Kaspersky and Norton are also my recommendations for good suites.

I work in IT and at times staff (usually directors!) bring me their home laptops to fix and deliver from evil. I have found Vipre Anti Virus to be quick, clean and efficient in finding Viruses that expensive and slow elephants like Norton cannot even find. The great thing about it is for a 'one-off' clean I make use of their 30 day free trial and then leave it up to staff if they want to purchase after that or not. A good all rounder I say, worth a look: http://www.vipreantivirus.com/

I recommend you use either Norton or Trend Micro. It might cost more but at least you're sure it works. Anyway, you can get promo codes so the cost shouldn't bother you too much.

Rich-M

I have deleted your post which quotes a spam post. Please try & use a bit of common sense & watch what is quoted to save the mods having extra work to do

Thanks

Hi,
A few days have passed and I don't remember quoting anything in my post except as an answer. Could you please copy that to an answer here so I can see what you are referring to as I am a Forum Admin myself and I certainly would not quote a spammer deliberately. I simply don't remember saying anything except that the user was suggesting using an old version of Avg to the poster. Or are you simply saying the post I was trying to warn against was by a spammer and I failed to notice that maybe?

Damn, and I feel them all on my forum, sorry about that! I was just concerned with making sure the poster didn't download an old version of that crappy Antivirus, the new one is poor enough in my estimation!

It happens Rich, just watch for the one word links under a post that you can miss when quoting

try to get into the habit of selective quoting rather than quoting the entire post as that often gets the point over in a more forceful & targeted way
