Help to turn on Wireless Hp Pavilion
Hello,

I am unable to turn on my wireless capability on my HP Pavilion dv3 1124.

I have a wireless network that is working within the house, problem seems to be simply turning the "orange to blue"....

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi, and welcome to TSG forums.
When I entered the " HP Pavilion dv3 1124." into the place on HP.com to try to get the manual for it, they say they cannot find any information for that number.
Please double check the model name & number and repost. You can always go to the www.hp.com/support site and check the manual for your computer to see how to activate the wireless capability.

Go to computer>system properties>device manager look for network adapter, right click and look for driver updates. Sounds like it may be a hardware issue but try this first and let me know how it goes.

I have a dv6 that uses the intel wifi-link 1000 and about a year ago i was having similar issues. Updated the drivers and everything worked fine.

Here is the support and software site for the HP Pavilion dv3-1124ca Entertainment Notebook PC laptop.

You should add and save this site in your browser favorites/bookmarks list so you can readily refer to it when needed.

If the light on the front of the case is staying amber and not changing to blue when you switch on the built-in wireless device, it may possibly have gone bad.

From what I can determine, that laptop has a Broadcom 4321AG/4322AG or Atheros AR5007 wireless adapter.

Go to Control Panel - Device Manager, then click the + in "Network Adapters". What's listed in that heading?

Did that and no nothing, no updates. I did attempt a system restore (on the advice of HP) but still nothing....odd cause everything else seems fine as far as when I start up the computer, just can't turn on the wireless...networks are here and all...funny.

Don't forget to read post #5.

-------------------------------------------------------

I've seen a few HP laptops over the years where the built-in wireless went bad and an external USB model had to be used.

Double-click that entry to open its properties window, then click the "Driver" tab.

What's listed for driver date and driver version?

-------------------------------------------------------

Is Windows Vista(64-bit) still being used in that laptop?

Don't mention it, but as I said the driver more than likely needs to be updated, especially if it's from '08.

Here is the download link for version 5.60.48.31, dated 2010-02-03.

Download and save the sp47344.exe file, then close all open windows first, then double-click the saved file to install the driver, then restart the computer.

If updating the driver doesn't get that Broadcom 4322AG wireless device to work, it's probably gone bad.

You have checked the wireless switch and made sure it's turned on, correct?

You might also want to browse through the wireless networking section.
