My daughter's Toshiba u405d - s2850 won't power up. Error message says:

Then new screen says: Windows is loading files

Then new screen says:

Before the ssytem can finish "check the system for problems, the laptop
turns off. BTW, both the battery light and power cord light are lit solid.
My daughter says she did not add hardware or software...

Any advise? I don't think it is under warranty any longer.

PLEASE HELP. Cannot afford to buy her another laptop for college.

Can you get into Safemode?

How to Start in Safemode

1. Restart your computer.
2. Before the windows logo you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

Tried the safe mode as instructed, the laptop did not respond.
It went through the same cycle that I described in original post.

Ok this time restart the PC and just keep tapping the F8 key straight away as you may have missed it.
