Glad you were able to get it figured out. Yes, linux can be very helpful when troubleshooting a system.

If you purchased a retail cpu, it comes with a 3yr warranty from intel so you should be able to get it replaced.

Yes I got a boxed CPU so all is good there, it would be a very strange thing to have just 1 core drop out though wouldn't it I have searched the net and have found nothing referenced to 1 core dieing on a cpu

CPUs are actually pretty hard to hurt unless you overclock/overvolt them. Usually cpus either work or they do not; having one part fail is somewhat rare however anything mechanical/electrical can fail.

If you have a chance to install that cpu into another mb for testing I would be curious to see how it works. FWIW mb failures are much more common that cpu failures. You may have a board problem.

Well I have contacted ASRock support in regards to the problem and they gave me links to beta BIOS updates for system stability. The new BIOS enable me to get in long enough with all cores active into the resource monitor and look at the active CPU cores and the second thread of every core was labelled "Parked" and then not long after that it crashed again.

So I have gone in and disabled hyper threading and got back into the monitor and it showed all the cores and they where all active and then it crashed again.
