Can't boot from USB
I'm having a bit of trouble with a new usb flash drive I just bought. It's a PNY Attache Mini 16GB and I can't seem to boot from it. I turned it into a multiboot drive with YUMI and my BIOS doesn't recognize it. I know that my BIOS supports booting from usb because it works with other flash drives. Any ideas on why this isn't working? My computer is a HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx laptop. Thanks.

Exclamation PNY 8gb Mini Attache...
Well,

I built up a nice LINUX boot disk with this right out of the box, it at least booted, but I had way too much in there :-) Again, it at least booted. Just tried reloading several OS's on this today with SARDU, but the drive is not booting in XP nor Win7. Scrapped the contents, reformatted again, now tried with YUMI..., no boot. Windows see's it, can move files to & from, just won't boot.

Strange and highly aggravating...no solution as yet. Good luck with yours...

How did you create the MBR, boot sector, and boot files? What type did you use?

If you have multiple options in BIOS for USB boot (like USB-CDROM, USB-LS120, USB-Floppy, USB-ZIP, USB-HD, etc.), try those.

Try the Linux Live USB Creator. It always works for me, and I'm sure it has your chosen distro, too. If not, it may succeed with its generic install. It will (optionally) install VirtualBox portable, too, so you can run the USB's OS from within Windows.
