system configuration utility comp service issues (any help would be loved) ok so this is gonna be a long one:
currently my comp is in safe mode and i am currently typing on someone elses comp because somehow the internet is disabled. so here's what happened:
my sister very sweetly but foolishly went into the system configuration utility to try and fix a harmless problem on the comp but seeing as she didn't know what she was doing, disabled a majority of the programs and rebooted the system. I am not exactly sure what happened after that, but by the time i got to the computer, the damage was already done and i have been thus far unable to fix it at all
so here's what i know:
she somehow disabled a program that is connected to a lot of programs and is causing them not to run
i have been getting multiple varied error messages: "application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba a problem caused this program's service to stop to start the service, restart your computer or search help and support for how to start service manually" and "windows cannot open help and support because a system service is not running to fix this problem start the service named help and support" to name a few
it won't lt me click help and support
i can't run system restore in safe mode
the connection and router are both fine but it won't let me on the internet
i gather that a system service connected to other services has been turned off but i have no idea how to find out which one it is
safe mode was initiated by the comp, not me
i have tried putting it into normal mode and last good configuration manually using f8 startup but neither have worked
as far as i know it isn't a virus and nothing has showed up on the scans to suggest malware activity
i have restarted the computer dozens of times already
currently i am logged on as an administrator
this is the most perplexing thing i have ever ecountered, any help would be absolutely really really greatly appreciated |
