Hi
I have an MSI GT440 graphics card and a Geforce 6100PM M2 motherboard. It has a PCI Express 16 slot in which I tried to put it in. The problem is the card doesn't 'click' into place like it should. It doesn't go all the way down so I can't put my monitor in. Also, the screws at the back don't align with the graphics card screw. What should I do to fix this?

It almost sounds like your motherboard isn't correctly installed in the case, are there stand-offs between the case and motherboard?

Detailed pictures may help if you could post those.

Yes there are standoffs
and there are a few pictures but they arent very good quality

Looks like it is barely clearing the chipset heatsink.
Look at the area of the back of the case.
Look toward the bottom where the video card backplate goes down in.
There may be a slot that the tab has to go in.
May be necessary to bend the tab a little on the card to
make sure it lines up and drops into the little slot.
Also look for a possible rivet in the way or maybe a component
like a capacitor that may be in the way of the card.
You don't want to run it without it being properly seated.

That little heatsink does seem to be in the way, is that where the card is hitting? Hard to tell from the pics as they are indeed low quality and not from the best angles showing if there are clearance issues.

Do other things line up with the holes in the back?

Sometimes, you'll find that a certain card simply won't fit a particular machine. I've had that happen more than once. Though in your case, it sounds like more than just that the card hits against something in the machine.

No actually it doesn't touch the heatsink, there's quite a distance between them.
Also there arent any components or anything else in the way.

no it was empty, my graphics card was integrated into the mobo, but now ive got a dedicated one

Im not really that sure on how to check it. I know it's there but do I have to take the motherboard out or something because I can't see it because my mobo is covering it

You need to post your exact system specs; ie exact mb installed, etc.

Is this a big box system ie dell, hp, whatever?

It looks like that is an ecs mb. You did not by chance install this in a hp, dell, etc case did you?

Usually,there is a little space between the motherboard
and the back of the case.
You should be able to shine a flashlight down in there
and see if anything is blocking the card.
If you don't have any space between the motherboard and the back
of the case,the card won't fit properly as it needs room
to go past the motherboard.
The tab on the video card actually fits between the motherboard
and the back of the case.
