Upgrading WLAN card... Hello,
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5560-8431 (AMD A8, AMD Radeon graphics, 8GB, 750GB HDD, etc.) and tried to upgrade the WLAN card with a dual-band 802.11 abgn card (SparkLan WPEA-111n, Atheros AR9280 chipset). When I replaced the card Windows (Win7 SP1) seems to recognize the card and installs the drivers. However, the card doesn't appear to be "on" to any receive signals and, yes, I have checked the device settings through the Computer Management console.
I have recently upgraded the BIOS to v1.17 but resulting in no change in the behaviour of the card. I chose SparkLan because the Atheros chipset seems almost universal in terms of compatibility and have had success using it in other Acer laptops. I have, also, tried to place the original WLAN card back in and now the original card doesn't work! I have placed the SparkLan card in another computer and it worked perfectly so it's not defective.
I don't get it.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
TIA... |
