I have a Laptop (Specs up to date on Profile), which I want to connect to a Phillips CRT Television.


The connection between the two is a THREE cord chain. Beginning with the Laptop's (7 Pin - S-Video output) and ending with the TV's (4 Pin S-Video input), The 3 cords go like this: [1] [2] [3]

Is this configuration even possible, and if so, how does one enable the graphics card to send out the signal?

The first cable is probably an s-video to composite adapter that uses passive components to combine the luminance and chrominance signals into one connector, while the third cable separates the composite signal into luminance and chrominance again. While it may work, I expect the video quality would be poor.

We need to know the manufacturer and model for the laptop to help with your other question.

Hook up the TV, make sure the TV is set to S-Video input and hit Fn + F5 on the PC to switch display output between the laptop screen, the TV or both.

If it works OK you might want to get a regular S-Video cable to give you a little better picture, they're not very expensive.

Nothing happens, on either screen. TV is set to S-Video AUTO.
