Hi, whenever I turn on my acer aspire m1640 computer , the monitor and hard drive turn on but the monitor says "no signal" and then goes blank, I have checked that all the cables such as the VGA and stuff are plugged in properly and they are, and when I turn it on there is no beeping, nor anything to suggest that the computer isn't running as it should be.
Just incase, I have cleaned the fans, but that hasn't helped. I'm kind of inexperienced with computers, so you might have to explain it in an easier way.

Can anyone help me?

You should try another monitor there may be a fault on the cable self.

The no signal means the system is not posting. POST=pw on self test. The other cause is a bad cable, bent pin, etc. If you have checked this and swapped in a good cable, then do the following;

The first thing I would do with a no post condition is to swap in a known good pw supply for testing. Just because you see a LED or see fans spinning does not mean your pw supply is working correctly. Note you do not have to fully install the test unit. You can simply connect atx pw, and aux pw. Now hit the ON button and see if you get a display ie post data or splash screen. If you do, then you have found the problem and you can fully install the test unit or install a new unit.

If you are going to work on hardware, you are going to need some "test" parts or a test system for checking things.

If you are not comfortable working inside the case, then your best option would be to take it to a shop for a diagnosis. Most places charge 1/2hr labor or around $35~40 or so for this task. DO NOT take it to a best buy, or other chain store. Go to a real shop that does builds, repairs, etc.
