Hey guys i am quite new to this forum , i think i made a post a while back but i need a bit of support!

Just to say i am quite in the know with pcs and laptops but this one has me stumped!

ok bought the acer 5742z knowing somebody had spilled water on the laptop.

so i got it home plugged it in turned it on the button lights and the fans spin for a couple of seconds then it cuts out and trys again and keep doing this over and over.

Anyway , i took out the laptop baked it in the oven for 10 mins , shoved it back in and hey presto it worked a treat! booted straight up with the hard drive no worries.

Even all the keyboard keys worked correctly!

Anyway i thought maybe this is just a fluke so restarted it around 5 times and it worked every time!

Anyway , i thought id leave it on while i went out so i shut it down as id removed the hard drive. popped that back in and its stuck in the boot loop again!

And i really dont know what to do should i cook it again ?

Any help would really be appriciated!

Around 2 months ago but i have no idea if he tried to turn it on as soon as it happened , i immagine he did

The thing is that the spill can damage the MB over time. Whatever even just water can eat away at the MB. Do you know what the spill was?

he says it was water , but i cant see any corrosion or anything like that ?

It will not be visible. It is hard to say as it has been 2 months.

Do you get the bios screen come up?

Is it the original Hard drive with the original operating system on it?

Yes the laptop booted up perfectly fine with no problems just after i baked it

, i dont get the bios screen up now no, just a completely blank screen

Might try cooking it again but leaving it for a bit longer.

The thing is if there is any moisture in there then when you heat it there is nowhere for the moisture to go.

You can try heating it again but it needs to be able to escape.

Why would it work fine then not ?

Why did you remove the Hard drive?

because the motherboard casing wasnt put together properly it was all out of its case so i had to take it out to put it all back in.

Then maybe start there ..take it apart again and re check everything is connected OK and nothing is trapped.

i disconnected everything but the dc jack fan and power button but its still doing it!
