program to retrain my laptop battery
Hello, I have had my laptop for just over a year now and just in the last few months my battery life has gone south. From 3 hours to about 15mins. That's because it is pluged in to the wall 90% of the time, I was told I need to retrain my battery. Is there a program for my laptop that will do this.
I know HP has one. However, I went to the Compaq site and couldn't find anything from my computer.
Compaq Evo N1015v

Thanks,
Cloud

you might try to let the battery discharge down as far as it will go, might let it get over the "charge memory" many batteries have.

Tried that a few times, didn't work. Like I said, I know there is a program for the HP laptops that will do this for you. Nothing for the Compaq that I could find. I would like to know if there is a generic program that will do this for me.
Thanks again,

Several Compaq maintenance manuals suggest the procedure that Smokey212 suggested. Specifically, you need to fully charge the battery, then unplug it and run it as flat as you can without connecting power. It has to get to the point where the laptop shutsdown because of lack of power. Recharge it and do that again.

If this doesn't work, it's quite possible the battery is dead...
